Our Staff

Stephen Kankam is responsible for project development, strategic planning and programmes management.

He is a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute for Geosciences and Geography of the Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg, Germany, where his research is focused on mapping, assessing and modeling land use impacts on ecosystem services in the coastal landscapes of southwestern Ghana.

Robert Allou has over 15 years working experience in financial administration and management within the Foreign Services & NGO arena. For 5 years, he served as a volunteer with the American Peace Corps in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and worked 10 years with SNV/ Netherlands Development Organization as Project Administrator in charge of finance and administration. 

Robert is currently the Finance and Administration Manager for Hɛn Mpoano. He holds an MSc in Fisheries Economics and BSc in Accounting.

Until his demise in 2023, Balertey Gormey was the Senior Programmes Officer responsible for the assessment and design of livelihood initiatives, organizational development programmes and building staff core competencies around the different programme areas.

He had a Master’s Degree in African Studies (development option) with additional qualifications in micro-finance, micro-enterprises development, project analysis and management as well as forest management certification systems.

Daniel Doku Nii Nortey is a Programme Officer in charge of landscapes and livelihood initiatives. He has expertise in ecological assessments, mangrove restoration and green enterprise development.  

Daniel is currently a PhD candidate at the African Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR) at the University of Cape Coast where his research is focused on assessing the status of mangrove resources and drivers of their degradation in Ghana.

Justice Camillus Mensah is a Programme Officer responsible for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officer. He possesses a wealth of experience in applications of GIS/remote sensing in natural resources management. He is a certified UAV pilot.

He holds an MSc. degree in Environmental Science and Management (remote sensing and spatial analysis) from the University of Rhode Island, USA.

Adiza Ama Owusu Aduomih is the Programme Officer responsible for Gender Integration. She has expertise in gender analysis/assessment, gender strategy development, integration of population, health issues in natural resources management as well as management of Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA).

She holds an MSc. degree in Environmental Science and Management (wetland, watershed and ecosystem science) from the University of Rhode Island, USA.

Jemimah Fredericka Eminsang is a Project Manager responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination and Monitoring of the Securing Child’s Right in the Fisheries Sector Project. She has expertise in project management and leadership in Child’s Rights and Development.

She holds a Masters of Art degree in Development Studies from the Institute of Statistical Social and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana.

Emmanuel Obeng Dekyi is a Project Officer in charge of Landscapes and Livelihood initiatives. He has experience in capacity building of local community and resource management, conflict resolution and co-management of fisheries resources. He contributed to actions towards building the capacity of resource users within the Ada Clam Fisheries to co-manage the clam resources and resolve conflicts. His tasks includes building capacities of local communities in forest conservation, Village Savings and Loans and monitoring changes in forest cover using participatory approaches.

He is a BSc. Degree in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences from the University of Cape Coast.

Samuel-Richard Bogobley is a Project Officer in charge of Fisheries and Communications. His experience covers co-management, resource-use planning, use of modern software applications in data collection and analysis, design and production of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials using skills in audio and video production and graphic design. 

He was instrumental in the development of of a clam fisheries management plan with clam fishers and farmers along the Volta River Estuary Ada based on GIS data collected using Open Tenure and ecological data submitted by fishers electronically. 

He is currently also serving as the Communications Officer under the EU-funded Women in Fisheries Against Gender Violence Project 

He has a BSc. Degree in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences from the University of Cape Coast.

Caroline Hammond is the Gender & Social Inclusion Officer. She has experience in implementing gender inclusion activities within fishing communities. Currently, her activities are focused on reducing gender based violence in coastal communities within the Western and Central Regions of Ghana.  Working with women involved in fish processing and trading, she is contributing to the reduction of gender-based violence and the protection and reintegration of victims.

Alex Mensah is an Accounts Officer supporting financial management and reporting. He has knowledge in International Financial Reporting practices and Taxation Laws of Ghana as well as USAID and EU regulations pertaining to financial management including grants. He is skilled in the use of QuickBooks, Sage and Tally ERP 9 Accounting Software. 

He holds Bachelor of Technology degree in Accounting with computing from Kumasi Technical University, Ghana.

Francisca Aba Prah is the Account/Administrative Assistant. She is responsible for front desk operations, events organisation and general accounting duties. She is skilled in the use of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage and Tally.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Computing from Kumasi Technical University, Ghana.

Ali Issah is the Logistics officer with a lot of experience in events management. He also doubles as a Transport Officer with 31 years of experience in driving. Ali has also acquired a lot of skills in Photography, Videography and editing over the years.

Abdullah Afedzi is a versatile, proactive and dynamic communications specialist with rich experience in journalism and public relations. He has over a decade of experience as an ocean and environment journalist. He has written extensively on the ocean, fisheries and the environment.

He is a member of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) and Founding member of the Journalist for Responsible Fisheries and Environment (JRFE). He holds BA Journalism degree and Mphil in Development Studies from the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

Yussif Mohammed Al-Amin is a driver. He also assists with logistics and event management. Yussif has skills in GPS Data Collection and serves as liason in our community engagements.

Eric Duku is a Field Officer  responsible for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and landscape/livelihood initiatives. He has excellent skills in GIS, remote sensing, geospatial analysis, geostatistics, spatial statistics, and surveys and has extensively used them in both social and natural science research and development initiatives.

He worked on socio-ecological landscapes by exploring the dynamics of a coastal wetland and its implications for human well-being in Ghana for his MPhil (Integrated Coastal Zone Management) thesis funded by the World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR) at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

Antoinette Nweakoa Allou is responsible for community engagement for the WIFVES project. She has expertise in gender and development, psychology, child protection and family wellbeing.

She holds an MPhil in Social Work from the University of Ghana

Augustine has been actively working with Hen Mpoano on forest conservation and community-led resource management since 2010. He has experience in GIS mapping, community resource management, mangrove conservation and restoration and VSLA.

Augustine is currently supervising work at our mangrove nurseries and providing extension support to Village Savings and Loans Association formed  and facilitated by by Hen Mpoano
