Hen Mpoano Hosts Exchange Visit and Mentorship Session for Local CSOs within the Cape Three Points Forest Enclave

Hen Mpoano was honoured to host an exchange visit and mentorship session for staff of four (4) local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) ; Conservation Foundation, Ghana Instinct, Daasgift Quality Foundation, and Community Partnership for Health and Development (CPHD) all operating within the Cape Three Points Forest enclave.

The initiative was facilitated by the Ghana Wildlife Society (GWS) and funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) through BirdLife International, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the institutional capacity of CSOs working in biodiversity conservation and natural resource management within the Western Region of Ghana.

The exchange and mentorship session aimed to enhance the participating organizations’ capabilities in governance, financial management, and project implementation key pillars for ensuring accountability and sustainability in conservation work.

During the engagement, Hen Mpoano shared its decade-long experience in coastal and marine conservation, highlighting lessons from years of implementing donor-funded initiatives across Ghana’s coastal landscapes. Discussions covered practical tools and frameworks that can help CSOs operate more effectively, strengthen institutional systems, and deliver impactful results at the community level.

Participants engaged in an interactive dialogue on organizational growth, peer learning, and partnership development creating an atmosphere of shared learning and collaboration. The mentorship also provided a unique opportunity for CSOs to explore how improved management practices can translate into stronger community engagement and more resilient ecosystems within the Cape Three Points area.

Hen Mpoano’s Team expressed appreciation to the Ghana Wildlife Society for its leadership in facilitating collaboration among CSOs and to CEPF and BirdLife International for their continuous investment in building institutional resilience within the conservation community.

“Strong institutions form the foundation of sustainable conservation,” noted the Hen Mpoano team. “By strengthening the governance, accountability, and operational capacities of local organizations, we collectively build a stronger voice for environmental stewardship in Ghana.”

This mentorship initiative reflects Hen Mpoano’s ongoing commitment to supporting the growth and development of local partners, empowering them to play a pivotal role in advancing biodiversity conservation and community-led natural resource management.
