Under the Sustainable Oceans Project (S.O.P ), funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and implemented by Hen Mpoano, Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF), and CEWEFIA we are pleased to share the Spatio-Temporal Analysis of Mangrove Ecosystems in Ghana.
This report provides critical insights into the status, distribution, and changes in Ghana’s mangrove forests over time from the year ( 2000), highlighting their ecological significance and the urgent need for conservation efforts.
Mangroves play a vital role in protecting coastal communities, supporting fisheries, and mitigating climate change.
However, increasing human activities and environmental changes threaten their sustainability. This study, presents key findings on mangrove coverage trends, species composition, and ecosystem services, offering recommendations for sustainable management and restoration.
We invite policymakers, researchers, conservationists, and community stakeholders to explore this report and join efforts to safeguard Ghana’s mangroves for future generations.
