Exploring the Potential for the Creation of Protected Areas to Preserve Critical Habitats of Endangered Species in Ghana’s Greater Amanzule Wetland

Funding Organization: Rainforest Trust

Hen Mpoano conducted biological surveys in targeted coastal and inland wetland areas, and within adjacent terrestrial forested areas to verify the presence of flora and fauna listed on the IUCN Red list as endangered species. Complementary socio-cultural/economic assessment was carried out in the Amanzule wetland area to investigate the viability as well as the socio-cultural acceptability and enabling policy environment for establishing protected areas in the Amanzule wetland area.
