Child Rights, blue economy advocate & coastal community empowerment specialist
Jemimah Fredericka Eminsang’s work is dedicated to coastal and marine community empowerment and advocacy, bringing over 5 years of experience in coastal community development, child rights and social protection, and sustainable fisheries governance. Her work bridges the realms of community-based mechanisms, policy advocacy, sustainable livelihoods and inclusion and equity in the blue economy, making her a versatile and impactful contributor to sustainable development along Ghana’s coast.
With a MA in Development Studies and ongoing MPhil studies in Blue Economy, Governance, and Social Resilience, Jemimah combines field expertise with policy insights to support ecosystem conservation and coastal community resilience. At Hen Mpoano, she plays a key role in designing and implementing community empowerment initiatives and mechanisms and engaging stakeholders across local, regional, and national levels.
She has led initiatives addressing gender-based violence (GBV), child labor and trafficking (CLaT), safeguarding and risk analysis and mitigation in fishing communities. Her contributions extend to conducting value chain analyses, promoting gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), and advocating for sustainable blue economy practices.
As a passionate advocate for community empowerment, Ms. Eminsang has developed and executed behavior change communication strategies, and facilitated community dialogues that elevate the voices of women and marginalized groups in the fisheries sector.
Her work reflects a deep commitment to blending conservation goals with social equity and community empowerment.
