Peter Canicius Kuusaana

Kuusaana Peter Canicius is an accomplished Integrated Development Planner with over two decades of progressive experience in program and project planning, rural development, agricultural extension, environmental conservation, and development policy analysis. His multidisciplinary expertise spans across occupational and food safety, community engagement, and data-driven monitoring and evaluation frameworks. He has played key roles in the design, coordination, and implementation of development initiatives within the fisheries, agriculture, emergency resettlement and environmental sectors, both at national and regional levels.

Peter’s career trajectory reflects a deep commitment to sustainable development, with notable leadership roles in organizations such as Hen Mpoano, Self Help International, Environmental Justice Foundation, Environmental Concern Office and Church World Service. His ability to integrate policy programming with strategic evaluation has enabled the successful rollout of initiatives that improve livelihoods, promote responsible governance, and foster ecosystem conservation. With a strong academic foundation—including a Master’s in Environmental Management and Policy—and continuous professional development in areas like, Lean Six Sigma, Occupational Health and Safety, Maritime Security and Climate Finance Governance,  Peter brings a blend of analytical rigor and field-based insight to complex development challenges.
